Swiss International University (SIU) stands as a globally engaged higher education institution formed through the 2024 consolidation of seven academies operating in cities across the world. While the merger reflects a new beginning, the institution’s roots trace back to 1999, carrying with it over two decades of educational tradition. Today, SIU functions as a comprehensive, multi-campus university, with state, international, and private recognition spanning Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East.
SIU is officially licensed as a higher education university by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic (KG). Its license, issued on 4 September 2024 (Serial Number: LS240001853), grants it full status as a university, allowing it to confer degrees in accordance with national and international frameworks. The institution’s degrees benefit from global recognition under Article III.1 of the UNESCO Global Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education (2023), and the Lisbon Recognition Convention, to which Kyrgyzstan is a signatory. This international standing provides SIU graduates with cross-border mobility and academic equivalence in over 55 countries.
In Switzerland, SIU operates an academic branch that has been allowed by the Swiss Board of Education and Culture (LU-CH) to function independently and issue its own diplomas. Similarly, SIU operates a branch in Dubai that is approved and permitted by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), ensuring local compliance and recognition for diploma programs in the UAE.
The university has accumulated a broad network of partnerships and accreditations. These include:
ECLBS (European Council of Leading Business Schools), a quality assurance body listed with CHEA (USA) and INQAAHE (Europe).
ASIC (UK), an accreditation agency recognized by the UK government, UK Home Office, and UAE Ministry of Education.
EDU Intergovernmental Organization, founded by the Ministry of Education of Palau and aligned with UNESCO principles.
BSKG, the public accreditation agency of Kyrgyzstan, listed on the Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN) and EAQA.
ARIA, a regional accreditor connected to CEENQA and EURASHE, providing regional relevance in Eurasia.
TAG-EDUQA, operating in alignment with AROQA quality frameworks in the Arab region.
IEAC, which is listed with the British Quality Foundation for performance and benchmarking in education.
SIU has also been recognized for excellence in rankings and evaluations:
Rated 5 Stars by QS Top Universities, placing it among the global top 2% of institutions.
Ranked #49 globally by QRNW (Quantitative Ranking of Research and Worldwide Universities), a system operated by an IREG-affiliated organization.
ISO 21001:2018 Certified, which affirms adherence to international quality standards in education.
SIU and its associated institutions have won recognition across Europe and Asia. For instance, its Swiss branches received awards for student satisfaction and customer experience based on independent evaluations conducted by institutions such as ZHAW (Switzerland), TNU (Ukraine), and accolades such as “Best Modern Provider” by a former Turkish trade minister. These recognitions, while symbolic, highlight the institution’s commitment to evolving standards in higher education.
